| When I was volunteering at our shelter back in 2003 I met the most wonderful, loving black Lab. I've told the story, but it bears repeating that when I first met her she "shone". Truly, she had a difused light around her and she called to me. There is a wonderful Yahoo group list called Bones for Labs and after taking her picture and deciding her name would be Ebony I went home to post to the group though I had no great hopes as Labbies are in need everywhere. Bless Anne in Connecticut for answering my plea......Ebony was saved!!! Ebony had her bloodwork and shots done and it was found she was heartworm negative. I called Anne in trepidation that she may not be able to help us but Anne came through once again saying "get her treated!!!". Following was to be the most awesome 3 months of my life with Ebony staying with me through successful heartworm treatment and eventually her spay. I had not had a "tailed" dog in the house and had to learn quickly about tails knocking objects off tables! After treatment and spaying it was time to move Ebony to Anne in Connecticut....so many states! But with the help of a wonderful transport coordinator Ebony was on her way breaking the hearts of everyone she met. Shortly after settling in with Anne's rescue Ebony was spotted by a wonderful young man named Jake. It was love at first site for all including Jake's Mom Carol and it's a truly happily ever after story. I hear ocassionally that things are still going great and I wish for nothing but the best for everyone. Ebony came and rocked this Boxer world......and it's never been the same! |
